A new proposition in California has allowed for bilingual education in public schools. So if schools choose to implement these type of classes, then certain classes would be taught in languages other than English.

I like that this is able to happen, as long as it is done in the correct way. The implementation of these types of classes should be done carefully.

I am a big advocate of language education. I think that being able to speak more than one language is a good thing. That being said, it is a reality that in the US, you need English for business and job opportunities.

So I definitely want to have classes in foreign languages and classes that teach foreign languages in schools. However, I do not think that having schools which just teach in one language other than English is a good idea. I am fine with bilingual schools, but there needs to be some English language classes in the program.

What are your thoughts on this proposition in California?
