My next book project is going to be something a little different. I have struggled with depression for a long time and I know that so many others in the US and across the world do as well. As an up-and-coming journalist and writer, I always look for stories that interest me which relate to the real world and real people. I have been fascinated with mental illness (depression in this case) and how the mentally ill are treated in the United States.
My current working title is
Despondency Matrix: The Complexity of Depression and Its Treatment
The tentative general outline is as follows
-My own experiences with depression
-Going over various different types of depression as defined by the American Psychiatric Association in The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
-A look at how depression is treated in terms of (often over-prescribed) medication and other available resources
I am going to attempt to crowdfund this project because I want to make this book as professional as possible.
My motivation for writing this book is to help give the general public a better understanding of depression from a person not in the medical community that has gone through it.
